September 21 marks the last day of Summer and the beginning of Autumn. It also happens to be a Public Holiday in Malta! It was a beautiful day and how better to celebrate the end of summer and a public holiday than to lunch on the water’s edge and indulge in lovely food.
Me and my friend (another foodie) decided to make best use of our day off and catch up over good food. After a lot of thinking she suggested that we go to Ta’ Xbiex Waterpolo Club. It is the perfect spot for a summery meal. There is some seating inside but given that it was a gorgeous day we asked for a table outside. There’s a fair- sizes outdoor seating area.
This restaurant is really perfect for those who love seafood. They always serve fresh fish that will satisfy seafood lovers cravings. Fish is not their only specialty. The menu offers a vast selection of pizzas, pasta, salads and meat. Their aim is to incorporate the art of simplicity, freshness and quality.
A very extensive wine list, with top wines from all over the world, and novel cocktail menu complements the original food menu.
As always, we couldn’t decide what to order so we decided to share some starters. This included the fried Mozzarella di Bufala and Foccacia Rucola e Prosciutto di Parma. Everything was as appealing as it was tasty!
I got a bit full but had a main dish waiting for me. For mains I opted for homemade veal Tortelloni served in truffle oil, cream, mushrooms and pepper sauce, while my friend ordered the Cozze alle Francese. Sebastian decided to opt for the Tagliatelle al Cinghiale.
The portions are very big, in fact my pasta dish was huge, I was unable to finish it ( this rarely happens!)
A never- ending selection of homemade desserts is offered. Me and Sebastian shared the white chocolate Mousse, while my friend ordered the Banoffee Pie.
Oh I had a great time. I totally blissed out while lunching on their beautiful terrace, offering unspoiled views of Valletta.
This was my first experience going to this restaurant but it will surely not be my last. We went to satisfy our soul food urges at Ta’ Xbiex Waterpolo Club and we weren’t let down.
